The president of Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences Professor Aba Andam and her staff on Thursday, January 25, 2018, hosted World Renowned Fiber Optics Inventor Dr Thomas Mensah at the Academy headquarters in Accra.

Professor Aba Andam, Fellow of the Academy with the Honorary Secretary Professor Buah Bassuah, Cape Coast University Fellow, Professor Wellington, University of Ghana Legon, and the Executive Secretary of the Academy, Mr Samuel Boakye and the Staff welcomed Dr Mensah.

The Fellows of the Academy expressed their excitement and discussed the recent Launch of the Silicon Valley of Ghana, www.Siliconvalleygh.com at the Kofi Annan ICT Center, the Telemedicine Project.

Dr Mensah said “The Telemedicine Project in the Ghana Silicon Valley will be beneficial to the Academy Fellows because most of its Fellows are Physicians in Ghana who want to connect with Physicians in World Renowned Hospitals like the Mayo Clinic in the United States of America, United Kingdom and Germany for real-time Medical Diagnostics of Critical Medical Issues using this New Platform.”

Dr Mensah during his visit discussed other key projects for moving Ghana into the 21st century including the High-Speed Rail Project for Ghana that he is working with the Ministry of Railways on.

The President and the Leadership voiced strong Support for these Projects that can place Ghana Light years ahead of other nations in Africa, attracting massive investments and creating Jobs for the Youth and Citizens of the Country. The Academy according to the Secretary is set to support the Silicon Valley of Ghana, the Telemedicine Project and the High-Speed Rail Project being developed by Dr Thomas Mensah.

Representing the Former President of the Academy, the Late Professor Allotey at the event was his nephew, Mr Aikins who along with Professor Francis Acquah, Fellow of the Academy, former Lecturer at KNUST who taught Dr Thomas Mensah made the connection to the Academy.

Dr Mensah using his own resources launched the Silicon Valley of Ghana within 30 days and established a Governing Board for this enterprise that will put Ghana on the Map regarding Technical Innovation.
